Regional Service Delivery
How can we increase cooperation among the towns in our region? How can we improve the quality of our public services and lower the burden on our taxpayers? How can we get started in regionalization? What are the pitfalls to avoid?
What are the strengths and weaknesses of our economy? What are our industrial clusters? What are our best prospects for development?
PDI has been selected to work with the Cities of Lewiston and Auburn to identify ways in which they can increase cooperative efforts to improve services and reduce expenses. Our work has involved interviews with all city department heads, analysis of the organizational structures of both municipal governments, estimation of the future demands for municipal services and recommendations for the best way to consolidate services.
PDI has conducted numerous economic base studies and prepared many regional development strategies. We have done work on the Kennebec Valley, the Mid-Coast and York County regions of Maine. Our work has been used in obtaining funds from the Economic Development Administration (EDA) and the Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) program.
