Community Visioning
Is some hot button issue threatening to divide your town? Is growth management something everybody wants but nobody knows how to do?
Let us help. Gather the stakeholders; assemble the data; define the issues; articulate the options; make sure everyone has a voice.
In 2002 and 2003, PDI conducted community visioning meetings in five Maine municipalities on behalf of the State Planning Office. These efforts involved fifty to one hundred people participating in six hours of intensive exercises. The results were vision statements used to guide the municipal planning process and a handbook published by the State Planning Office to orient other communities to the visioning process.
PDI also worked with the New Hampshire Office of State Planning to develop a similar process for three pilot communities as part of the Governor's Grow Smart New Hampshire initiative.
